OUGD101 No News Posters Self Evaluation
I feel that strengths within the posters are the type arrangement and manipulation to produce a title, which is both obvious and visually interesting. I originally planned to use opacity to represent depth within the crowd of people, but when I realised opacity was not part of the restrictions, I feel that use of dots and their density within a shape is an effective substitute. I am also pretty happy with the subtle details like the modification of the question mark so that it aligns to the crossbars of the E, and the left alignment running down from the H and I. I really enjoy working with things like this, which unfortunately often go unnoticed.
Issues that were raised in the crit were there is too much red space, the illustrations are too simple and do they represent the amount of people striking or the amount of people wanting the job. In repsonse to this I feel as the posters had to work as a set, the red space works effectively to allow the type and image full effect on the audience and the illustrations were left simple in order to let the viewer decide which amount of people they are representing. However issues that I have since picked up on are the size of the supporting text and the colour density of the third row of people. Perhaps the supporting text could have been bigger and still worked around the alignment, and the third row could have had more density of red dots, as the white bodies look too solid compared to the rest.
